DKL was established within a record time as a greenfield innovative, distributive & disruptive homegrown lab venture in Kenya: building works commenced May 2024, equipping & setup of the lab by August 2024, registration in September 2024, official launch in October 2024 and ISO15189 assessment by KENAS in November 2024 with recommendation for ISO15189 accreditation.
Dr. Kalebi Labs (DKL) is a greenfield state-of-the-art and first-of-its-kind lab in Africa homegrown in Kenya with advanced and unique total lab automation (TLA) integrating pre-analytical, analytical (chemistry, immunoassay & hematology) and post-analytical systems, as well as many first-in-class technology solutions including molecular pathology and the first fully digital pathology workflow in Africa.
DKL Central Referral Lab is located at Real Towers Annexe along Hospital Road (300m from KNH Main Gate) in Upper Hill Nairobi. It is duly registered & licensed by KMLTTB as a Class G National and International Clinical Diagnostic and Research Referral Lab. It is also registered & licensed by KMPDC as a Level 4B Specialist Medical Center, and contracted by the Social Health Authority (SHA).
DKL has directly employed over 100 personnel in Kenya besides providing indirect employment to numerous agency and freelance partners networked across the country and region.
Some of the innovative, distributive and disruptive solutions introduced by DKL include the DKL App for patients and health professionals, now available on Apple App Store and Google Play Store, also accessible through www.dkl.co.ke including online test menu with pricing and test information, ordering of tests, tracking of results and viewing of lab reports.
The DKL Central Referral Lab successfully underwent ISO15189 assessment by KENAS in November 2024 and has been recommended for ISO15189 Accreditation.
