The agricultural drone industry in India is scaling gradually due to the push by GOI & and other Govt bodies. More than 8 drone manufacturers have got the type certificate for their drone models & and many are in queue. DGCA has approved 50+ RPTOs to provide product training & and certificates to the drone operators. CIB&RC has given blanket approval to 477 molecules for commercial drone spray. In spite of Govt push, drone technology is not able to reach the actual user i.e., farmers. The reason is very simple – 1) The drone manufacturers are focusing only on selling their drones & and earning profits. 2) The agrochemical & and fertilizer manufacturers want to take the drone technology among farmers, but they do not want to own the drones, spares & or drone operators due to challenges in scaling up drone fleets & and managing the drone operations. 3) There are only a few drone service providers available in the market due to high initial capital cost & and ROI is not guaranteed due to the unavailability of spray demand and other factors. 4) A lot of quality & and functionality issues are coming in drones available with drone service providers & and due to the unavailability of required infrastructure for after-sales support, they are not able to generate revenues in peak seasons & not able to re-pay bank EMIs. 5) The unavailability of skilled pilots is a very critical issue. To contribute to the sustainable growth of the drone industry, Mr. Saurabh Srivastava has founded “DRONE ENABLERS”.
