“Dong Dong”, in Saigon accent, means “to go around”, like the way Saigonese invite each other to go around town on leisurely afternoons, or the way awning and truck tarps go full way round to become a new backpack, and last but not least - the symbol of green lifestyle (reduce-reuse-recycle) also consists of three arrows “going around”.
Recycling tarpaulins into fashion is uniquely done by Dong Dong in Vietnam. Our backpacks, messenger bags, bumbags, totes, wallets and accessories are all created with a focus on usability and minimal designs, leaving the spotlight for the beautifully weather-worn and colourful tarps that used to be signages and awnings of shops and houses. During the making process, the appearance of tarps are left as they are - all marks and faded colours - so they could retell the story of their past lives.
Over 3 years, Dong Dong has partnered up with many well-known names such as Pizza 4P's, RMIT Vietnam, De Heus, Lalamove, European Union Delegation, AIA Vietnam, Alibaba Group, Pasteur Street, Phileo, GIZ,... to create unique sustainable products.
