When the G8 met in 2009 to discuss global emission cuts, they set a target to slash global emissions 80% by 2050. It is the vision of E3GreenEnergy to contribute to this meaningful change by bringing passive housing to the consumer market. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, buildings account for 48% of annual greenhouse gas emission: that’s nearly half of total emission production. Most people focus on vehicles and factories as the main culprits for harmful emissions, yet do not recognize that their own homes have a very significant impact as well.
The solution lies in energy efficient, or passive, housing. Currently, passive houses can reduce third-party energy reliance up to 90%, which means most of the energy required to run appliances i the house can be provided by off-the-grid power, provided by on-house solar panels or on-site wind turbines. This reduction in energy consumption, combined with the use of renewable energy sources, means passive-house owners will rely less upon fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil, and coal, and become more eco-friendly in the process.
