East Gate Kids Learning Center is a 5-Star early learning center serving children from six weeks to 12 years old in one of Albuquerque’s most economically diverse zip codes. Rooted in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, our approach is both nature-inspired and play-based. In our infant classroom, we use sign language to promote early communication and verbal development. As children grow, our classrooms build on foundational skills through rich sensory play, early literacy, and exploration—preparing them to thrive in kindergarten and beyond.
We invest deeply in our educators—many of whom are building lifelong careers in early childhood. We host the National Administrator Credential (NAC) and offer ongoing professional development to ensure our team stays at the forefront of best practices.
Under the leadership of CEO/Visionary Gabrielle Wheeler, East Gate Kids has played a role in statewide advocacy efforts, including support for the creation of New Mexico’s Early Childhood Education & Care Department. Gabrielle has previously served on the boards of NMCCEA and local NAEYC affiliates, contributing to policy and quality advancement across the state.
