EHL Tax is specialist tax division within Edward Hands and Lewis Solicitors, providing a tax advisory service directly to clients and working with the legal teams to ensure the advice given is achievable and properly implemented.
Originally established to provide in-house tax support for the legal services offered by Edward Hands & Lewis Solicitors, we are often approached by accountants and financial advisers to provide purely tax advice for clients. We work closely with other advisers to provide support when dealing with tax planning.

As a division of Edward Hands & Lewis Solicitors all of our services are fully regulated by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority.
Our expertise
EHL Tax is headed by Leanne Hathaway, a Chartered Tax Adviser with considerable experience of complex tax planning, as well as having trained and practised within the large national accountancy firms Grant Thornton and PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC). All tax advisory work is supervised.
Our Approach
Tax has an impact on everyone, and our primary aim is to identify tax issues and ensure that financial affairs are arranged tax efficiently.
Our approach is to:
1. Identify the current position
2. Understand the objectives of the client (this need not be tax driven at all)
3. Identify the options or routes open to the client
4. Explain the tax and legal consequences of each option, and
5. Advise on which route, based on our own experience, would be best suited in the circumstances.
All tax advice is bespoke for each client, and we have a broad network of specialist tax advisers who may be called upon where a particular area of expertise is required.
