Sandra Hunter is a passionate advocate for cross-generational collaboration and mentorship, dedicated to empowering women of color on their journey to success. With over 19 years as an English and Creative Writing Professor, her personal experience has shaped a drive to create positive change in the workplace.
After years of experiencing racial and gender bias, she decided to make a career pivot and founded empowerHER to address the workplace challenges faced by women of color. Her firsthand experiences, along with witnessing the struggles of colleagues and students, inspired her to establish The Stealth Auntie Network—a platform that connects professional women as mentors with young women entering their careers.
In 2022, she launched Wild Women Leaders of Color, now empowerHER, offering a comprehensive approach to professional development. Through story-healing techniques, she helps women center themselves and unlock their full potential. They can then work with the incoming generation of young women to help them center in their self-worth and achieve remarkable career success. Her ultimate vision is to equip the upcoming generations with the tools needed to combat racism and gender bias, creating a more inclusive and equitable society.
Beyond her advocacy work, she's an award-winning published author, having written 3 books—LOSING TOUCH, SMALL CHANGE, and TRIP WIRES that shine a light on social injustice and amplify the voices of young women.
