EMTECH SPACE S.A. is a company established in Athens, Greece and focused on space ground segment software and smart-grid automation.
Since 2009, EMTech has been actively involved with spacecraft operational simulators. The company has been awarded by ESA with projects targeting to parallelization and performance optimization of the simulation infrastructure software that ESA/ESOC utilizes for both training and mission-specific purposes, as well as co-simulation approaches. From 2014, the company has also been involved with space magnetic cleanliness and Independent Software Validation & Verification projects. EMTech is a founding member of the Hellenic Space Technologies and Applications Cluster (si-cluster).
In the smart-grid domain, EMTech has developed a solution for automated reactive-load compensation in power distribution substations namely the iReact (www.ireact.gr). iReact has been installed in more than 150 power substations in the Greek transmission grid, handling peak loads near 2 GW, with an average of 8 % power loss reduction and 15 % released capacity. Currently we are extending iReact to address challenges arising from the increasing renewable penetration in the distribution grid such as overvoltages, reverse power flows and congestion. iDERgridy is our newly introduced innovative approach that has received public funding from the EU's SME Instrument.
