enCompass Academy Overview
Established in 2003, Encompass Academy is a free, non-profit high school of personal choice serving students in the Reno/Sparks area. As an alternative to traditional public and private schools, we are committed to guiding students toward bright futures through a holistic approach focused on academic achievement, personal pathways, social-emotional learning, and enrichment. Formerly known as Rainshadow, the school underwent a major transformation nine years ago relocating to the Boys & Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows Pennington facility and rebranding as Encompass Academy. This partnership provides students with free Club membership, access to a modern facility, and three meals daily, allowing us to remove barriers to education and reinvest in high-quality instruction. At the heart of our approach is the Encompass Learning PASE model, which centers on the whole student. We empower learners to grow academically and personally, guided by our core values of Fearlessness, Integrity, Resourcefulness, and Endurance (FIRE). Through restorative practices, hybrid learning, and strong community ties, Encompass creates a safe, inclusive space where students thrive—especially those seeking a different path to success.
