The E4S project, funded under the EU Life program, aims to drive the clean energy transition by enhancing energy efficiency among SME suppliers in the manufacturing sector’s upstream value chain. A key goal is to develop a novel certification scheme specifically for SMEs, responding to the challenges SMEs face with the complexity and costs of standard energy efficiency measures. The project involves creating a ranking system to evaluate suppliers’ energy efficiency, establishing networks for collaborative learning and best practice sharing, and developing a centralized resource hub to support SMEs in implementing sustainable energy solutions. The project builds SMEs’ capacity to sustain energy-efficient practices through community-based support. By empowering focal companies in the manufacturing sector to drive changes within their supply chains, the E4S project creates a ripple effect that advances the overall sustainability and economic viability of the industry.
