Black Rhombus Sound System is a traditional dub music sound system, originally established in the 1980s.Born out of the era when every Italian-American kid in Brooklyn was trying to be a DJ. In the early days, our sound systems were built for local events and sweet sixteens, spinning freestyle and disco hits of the time. But then we discovered dub—the art of the sound system itself—and everything changed. Over time, we expanded into an independent record label under the same name, pushing the music we love. While we are primarily a dub music sound system and indie label, we still offer our system for hire.
We offer two options for event rentals: either we provide both the music and the sound system, or you create a custom playlist, and we’ll amplify it for you with our system, complete with an operator to run sound and make announcements. If we’re selecting the music, expect classic party staples—Motown, soul, funk, disco, and timeless favorites—played on vinyl. We don’t do the latest Top 40, but if that’s what you want, we’ll set you up with a system where you can play your own selections, and we’ll handle the sound engineering.
