ESA BIC Latvia is the only ESA (European Space Agency) incubator in Latvia. It is 1 of 32 European BICs (Business Incubation Centres) set up by the European Space Agency in 22 countries. ESA BICs have been operating in Europe for 20+ years. ESA BIC Latvia is operated by the Deep Tech accelerator Commercialization Reactor that has 15+ years in Deep Tech commercialization. ESA BICs aim to support creating companies and start-ups with a link to space or using applications from space (urban planning, agriculture, medical, general public, etc.).
ESA Business Incubation Centres’ goal are to create jobs and develop regional economies via the ESA BICs program in the ESA Member States. They provide incubation services to promising space-related start-ups to help them become successful companies by exploiting space technologies or utilizing space systems in non-space markets (spin-off), or by becoming suppliers to the space sector, e.g. by exploiting non-space technology in the space market (spin-in).
