Foundation for Ethical Recycling of Industrial Scrap (FERIS) Overview

The Foundation for Ethical Recycling of Industrial Scrap (FERIS) is a Non-Profit Foundation for establishing recycling community partnerships, enhancing education opportunities for environmental stakeholders, and promoting enhanced product design standards for improvement of the circular economy model. We envision an approach to recycling that encourages the promotion of environmental stewardship through efforts which strengthen industrial recycling best management practices (BMPs) and circular economy sustainability efforts. The goal of this is to enhance the consciousness of all levels of the industry so that they conduct business with the well-being of their employees, the environment, society, and nearby communities in mind. Our intention is to aid in practices which not only benefit recyclers, but are also practices designed to advocate for sustainability of the global communities and the environment in which we all live. We plan to do so by encouraging products and methods which are designed for the reduction of contamination from product life cycles, improving industry wide partnerships, recycling related education, and supporting efforts to boost technological development relevant to the improvement of the recycling industry.
