Ethiopiaid Australia is a not-for-profit organisation in Australia raising money for some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in Ethiopia.
Why Ethiopia?
Despite recent economic growth, Ethiopia is still one of the least developed countries in the world. More than one quarter of the population lives below the national poverty line, only 39% of people can read and write, and 1 in 8 children have lost one or both parents.
Vision
Our vision is for an Ethiopia free from poverty in which every person has access to quality education, healthcare and a life of dignity.
Mission
Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty in Ethiopia by enabling local communities to realise their potential. We want to contribute to Ethiopia achieving its target of becoming a middle-income country on longer reliant on foreign aid.
How do we do this?
Our founding principle is that Ethiopians have the answers to the challenges they face. We partner with and provide funding to trusted, local Ethiopian organisations who are specialists in their field. This means we are able to drive change from a grassroots level and alleviate poverty in a way that is realistic, achievable and sustainable.
