Sarcoidosis or Besnier Boeck disease is a rare, multisystemic autoinflammatory disorder, in which groups of immune cells, called granulomas, cluster in patients’ organs and tissues. Inflammatory activity, damage done by granulomas to organs and tissues, and related complications and syndromes, may disable patients and impair quality of life. The cause of the disease is unknown. There is no medicine that can cure it. Mortality ranges between six and eight per cent.
