The world over, live event requirements for the corporate market, advertising- and communications companies and concert- and event organizers, are very high and continues to grow. Despite phenomenal international advances, the professional entertainment industry in Namibia is very young and consequently its support services are also fledgling.
There is only a small pool of skilled workers at the disposal of the events industry. Skills and equipment are therefore often brought into the country from across the border (usually from South Africa), to satisfy these high-end requirements. This state of affairs diminishes the value, both monetary and in terms of experience, which can be kept within Namibia, and we lose a valuable opportunity to service our own needs.
If the skills were available locally, the Namibian industry could be far more self-sufficient.
