FAIRPLAY TOWAGE Group

The FAIRPLAY TOWAGE Group emerges from the Fairplay Schleppdampfschiffs-Reederei Richard Borchard GmbH which was founded in 1905 in Hamburg/Germany. The service portfolio of the FAIRPLAY TOWAGE Group comprises the assistance to seagoing ships in ports, coastal and deep sea towage, services for offshore contractors and oil companies, salvage and emergency assistance to ships in distress, pontoon transports for shipyards and the renewable energy sector. The FAIRPLAY TOWAGE Group operates own tugboat services in 29 North European ports. Besides the main European container hubs Antwerp, Rotterdam, Wilhelmshaven, Bremerhaven, Hamburg and Gdynia, various ports along the rivers Schelde (Flushing, Terneuzen and Ghent), Weser (Bremen, Brake and Nordenham), Elbe (Stade, Bützfleth, Brunsbuettel and Cuxhaven) and Odra (Szczecin, Police and Swinoujscie) are served by tugs of the FAIRPLAY TOWAGE Group. Along the East German Baltic coast the FAIRPLAY TOWAGE Group has own tugboats stationed in Wismar, Rostock, Stralsund, Mukran, Sassnitz and Wolgast. ‘Theodor Buschmann GmbH & Co.’, a Hamburg-based shipyard, and ‘Borchard Schiffahrts GmbH’ overseeing the Group’s real estate activities are part of the FAIRPLAY TOWAGE Group. Furthermore, FAIRPLAY TOWAGE holds 50% share in the Dutch towage and salvage specialist ‘Muller Maritime Holding BV’ (Multraship) and ‘Antwerp Towage’ each. In November 2017, BUGSIER-, Reederei- und Bergungs- Gesellschaft mbh & Co. KG – established in 1866 – joined the group as well. Both FAIRPLAY TOWAGE and BUGSIER are founding members of the ‘ARGE Kuestenschutz’. The Emergency Towing Vessels (ETV) ‘NORDIC’ (stationed in the North Sea), ‘BALTIC’ (stationed in Rostock-Warnemuende) and ‘FAIRPLAY-25’ (stationed in Sassnitz) are chartered by the German Government.
