FHL Group was founded based on lived-experiences from the founder with the sole objective of providing an avenue for empowering young people, especially young girls in underserved communities.
Our initiative stems from growing up in an under-served district where majority of girls are either teen-mothers or school dropouts by age 15 alongside the experience of a near-death experience of a friend due to unsafe abortion.
The FHL Group, works directly with underserved communities – to provide first-hand information and services on reproductive health and well-being, as well as capacity and skills building for economic empowerment. We have worked with many civil society organisations (CSOs) and youth organisations including the Youth Action Movement (YAM) of Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), Breasted One Foundation, ALadyIs Organisation and West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens for the NUFU Festival. FHL Group is a member of the African Youth and Adolescents Network (AfriYAN) Ghana.
Together with a team of 30 volunteers, with over 12 years experience in healthcare, youth and community development, project management and gender, we have reached over 6,800 people with first-hand information and health services to advance quality healthcare including capacity and skills building for economic empowerment for young people and vulnerable groups, especially women in underserved communities facilitated by strategic partnerships, and innovative and right-based approaches.
FHL Group believes in empowering young people with relevant info to make primed decisions on their reproductive health and well-being, and equip them with practical skills to make positive impact in their communities and churn out changemakers across Ghana and the world.
