[FITTED] (Fitness Improvement Training Through Exercise and Diet) is a UCLA student health organization, which firmly believes that “a healthy mind starts with a healthy body.” Through the establishment of [FITTED], it is possible to raise holistic health awareness not only within the UCLA community but to the multitude of underrepresented communities housed in the Community Programs Office: African-Americans, Latino/as, South-East Asians, American Indians, and Pacific Islanders. Founded in Fall 2010, [FITTED] is a student–initiated and student-run program created to redirect student leaders’ focus back to their health so that they are better able to complete UCLA’s challenging journey with minimal health complications and assure a healthier future. [FITTED]’s core components provides: free group workout sessions, free health education courses, and free engaging wellness workshops. The core components provide safe and comfortable environments for learning essential physical training tools such as proper technique and form, invaluable health information, and alternate ways of staying active. Through these services, [FITTED] is able to accomplish its goals of raising and retaining holistic health consciousness, boosting CPO student leaders’ self-motivation, and confidence in paving their way towards healthier lifestyles.
