Introducing Floating Raft Agriculture - A hydroponic solution to aid farmers in adapting to waterlogged land in Pakistan.
To prepare farmers for the increasingly volatile climate of Pakistan, we are introducing floating rafts that can raise seedlings through a hydroponic design consisting of compacted layers of aquatic weeds. We are implementing a versatile design that allows the raft to be deployed on water and land. The pilot testing is being conducted in the low-lying area of Thatta, Sindh, in collaboration with @ietpk.
We aim to provide alternative livelihood opportunities to local farming communities, and a climate adaption framework for local government bodies.
The goal is to contribute to meaningful climate adaption discourse and introduce sustainable horticultural practices previously not implemented in Pakistan, to ensure communities are prepared for the challenges posed by our changing climate.
