The cafés we once knew—the corner coffee shop where we’d hang out with friends, chat, occasionally meet strangers, or settle in to work comfortably—are the inspiration behind Flying Fish Coffee Company. Fueled by this sentiment, two partners created what they call “Ekkamai’s neighborhood café,” a space that seamlessly blends their diverse interests.
“We wanted a café like the ones we used to love—where we could bring our work, meet new people, and sometimes just sit around from morning till afternoon. Honestly, we also wanted a place that felt like our own office,” shares Wutthikorn Suthiapha, an editor and writer, who co-founded the café with Nirada Witayawet, a ceramic artist turned barista with a deep passion for the craft of coffee. Reflecting on their journey, he notes that it has already been over seven years since they first worked in top cafés and set up pop-up stalls under the name Flying Fish Coffee Company.
“We named it ‘Flying Fish’ because fish are meant to swim—but we’re the kind of people who always push beyond limits. We’re fish, but we want to fly. We want to do so many things. So, we thought, why not create a space where people with different passions can come together, share their stories, and inspire one another? That, to us, would be something truly special.”
