FlyPlymouth has led the work to reopen Plymouth Airport over a number of years. We have the plan, the team and the resources to operate this vital and strategic piece of transport infrastructure sustainably.
Plymouth airport closed in 2011 in the wake of the global financial crisis. Much has changed since that time.
in 2019, on the basis of evidence, Plymouth Airport was safeguarded for aviation use in the Plymouth and South West Devon Joint Local Plan. FlyPlymouth continues to engage with stakeholders to identify a constructive way forward.
New low carbon aviation fuel technologies and the fleet of aircraft that will come with it will strengthen opportunities that are sustainable – both commercially and environmentally. Airports such as Plymouth face a brighter and cleaner future as they position to deliver vital connectivity, create high value employment and drive regional growth.
