The Armed Forces of Haiti (FAD'H) are the military forces of the Republic of Haiti. The mission of the FAD'H, in accordance with Article 266 of the Constitution of Haiti, is to:
- defend the country in the event of war
- protect the country against threats from abroad
- ensure the surveillance of land, sea and air borders
- lend support, upon reasoned request from the Executive Branch, to the Police in the event that the latter cannot fulfill its task
- assist the nation in the event of a natural disaster
- in addition to their specific attributions, the Haitian Armed Forces may be assigned to development tasks.
The Armed Forces of Haiti strive to develop military cooperation with their allies and partners throughout the world. The FAD'H is committed to restoring security in Haiti and contributing to regional and international security efforts, particularly against the threats of terrorism and transnational crimes.
