My name is Craig Forman, and I am a professional tax preparer. For my day job, I work full-time as a payroll administrator, which enables me to uniquely confirm that W-2 information matches an employee's final year-end pay stub. I have been preparing taxes since 2013. I started in the tax field under VITA, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program where I still volunteer, and later worked for H&R Block and TurboTax where I gained valuable experience.
At VITA, I became one of the top volunteers, and became a site lead. There, I managed one of the tax preparation sites on Saturdays, quality-reviewed hundreds of returns prepared by other volunteers, and helped other volunteers sharpen their tax skills. I also became certified as an Enrolled Agent, the highest credential the IRS awards.
I continue to prepare taxes because I am passionate about helping people file their taxes accurately, swiftly, and painlessly. My colleagues and friends know me as an under-the-radar type of guy. If my work isn't recognized, whether in payroll or taxes, this usually means there aren't any mistakes, and that I'm doing a good job!
Lastly, I'm a family man who prepares taxes in a home office, and am certainly not part of a massive conglomerate! I learned through my previous work experience that I much prefer to work for smaller organizations with good causes and strong morals, and strive to keep the same integrity in my personal work.
