Le Solstice's mission is to set up financial partnerships with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Switzerland and around the world on projects that improve the lives of children, and/or that raise awareness about nature preservation and sustainable development. Le Solstice's mission is also to support children and young adults in economic hardship in the pursuit of their degree.
Le Solstice was founded in 1996 by Pierre de Meyer (1926 - 1997) and his son, Jérôme de Meyer, in the town of Ollon in Switzerland.
The foundation was created when Jérôme had just recently taken over Beau Soleil, an international boarding school in Villars-sur-Ollon, from his father. Pierre and Jérôme's vision was to bring philanthropy at the heart of education.
After a little more than 20 years, when Jérôme ceded his position as headmaster, Le Solstice moved its headquarters to the town of Pully, in the Lausanne region.
Le Solstice is a private foundation, and is family-run.
