France Douglas a été créée en novembre 1993, à l’initiative des responsables professionnels de la forêt et du sciage des principales régions productrices, dans le but d’assurer, avec toute la cohérence nécessaire, la promotion du douglas.
Pour répondre à cet objectif, France Douglas développe son activité dans les 4 domaines suivants :
> Le suivi des travaux de normalisation qui concourent à définir le socle technique de référence à la fois en matière de qualification des matériaux et de conditions de leur mise en œuvre,
>L’engagement des travaux de recherche nécessaires à une meilleure connaissance du matériau ou de la ressource, comme aux conditions de leur valorisation.
> L’accompagnement des professionnels qui se traduit par un transfert permanent d’informations et par la conduite d’actions collectives visant à améliorer l’organisation et la compétitivité de la filière.
> La mise en œuvre d’un programme de communication cohérent.
