A Friend In Need is an NGO founded with the goal to help improve the loneliness of individuals worldwide. We recognize loneliness is inevitably the genesis of most human pain and can be found throughout society among segregated minorities, children, vulnerable people, creative as much as couples, strong relationships, the healthy, the famous and those with successful careers. The effects of being alone or "feeling lonely" range from eating and mood disorders like obesity, anorexia, depression to substance use, criminality and suicide. For excessive reliance on passive technologies and heightened individualism, loneliness has become an epidemic. Academic focus on the topic has increased but relief efforts and social treatments remain sparse. A Friend in Need was born to make everyone's lives less lonely and spread resilience against loneliness with a variety of free support.
