The BRAC Frugal Innovation Forum (FIF) began in 2013 as a two-day event dedicated to showcasing Southern-led innovations and fostering dialogue among changemakers in the Global South.
Over the years, FIF became a vital platform where social innovators, policymakers, academics, entrepreneurs, and funders could share lessons, address challenges, and explore scalable solutions.
Every journey begins with a single step, and ours started by identifying the most pressing need in the Global South—simple, affordable, and impactful solutions. We began with Scaling Simple Solutions, then moved to Scaling Digitally to amplify reach. This led us to Pushing the Boundaries of Development, challenging traditional approaches to create transformative change. As vulnerabilities grew, we focused on Scaling Resilience, which highlighted the importance of Scaling Quality Education as a foundation for sustainable development. From there, we turned to Scaling Opportunities for Youth to ensure education translated into real potential. The pandemic then prompted us to reimagine the Future of Development in a Post-Pandemic World, ultimately bringing us to Climate Adaptation—the urgent and unifying theme that ties together all our past learnings and future priorities.
