De wereldwijde ontwikkeling van 6G, de volgende generatie mobiele technologie die in 2030 op de markt komt, begint nu. Met het programma Future Network Services (FNS) creëert Nederland haar internationale toppositie in de mondiale 6G-waardeketen, gericht op die onderdelen waar Nederland zich kan onderscheiden. De focus ligt op intelligente radiocomponenten en antennes, intelligente netwerken en leidende toepassingen in maatschappelijk belangrijke sectoren. Zo vergroot het programma de kansen voor Nederlandse bedrijven om een positie te verwerven in de ontluikende mondiale 6G-markt. Dat draagt ook bij aan de digitale autonomie en duurzaamheid van Nederland en de Europese Unie.
Het FNS-consortium omvat 60 partners waaronder toonaangevende telecom- en halfgeleiderfabrikanten, mobiele operators, ICT-bedrijven, kennisinstellingen en overheden.
