Galloper Offshore Wind Farm is a 353MW project located 27km off the Suffolk coast at its closest point. Galloper’s 56 turbines generate enough green energy to power more than 444,000 British homes and will continue to do so for its operational lifetime of 23 years.
Galloper Offshore Wind Farm is owned by RWE Renewables (25%), Siemens’ financing arm, Siemens Financial Services (25%), Equitix (25%), ESB (12.5%) and Spring Infrastructure Capital – a fund established by Sumitomo Corporation, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Development Bank of Japan (12.5%). RWE Renewables has led the development and construction of Galloper Wind Farm and its ongoing operation on behalf of the project partners.
Construction for Galloper began in 2016 with power first generated by the turbines in November 2017. The site became fully operational in March 2018.
The electricity generated from our turbines is carried to a substation at Sizewell where it joins the UK’s electrical grid. A team of 60 operate and maintain the wind farm from a state-of-the-art facility located in Harwich International Port in Essex.
