The focus of our developments is the topic of " greywater". Greywater occurs wherever water becomes only slightly contaminated, such as when showering, bathing or washing hands. Normally, this wastewater ends up in the sewer together with the more polluted parts. However, the low degree of contamination and the relatively high temperature of just under 40°C make greywater a valuable resource.
The greywater is collected in the patented STREBEL greywater recycling plant. In a two-stage treatment process, the collected greywater is first biologically cleaned and then freed from the remaining dirt particles with a membrane filtration. Afterwards, the heat in the now purified greywater filtrate can be transferred to freshwater via a plate heat exchanger before it is brought to its final temperature by a heat pump.
Thus, not only usable heat is generated, which can cover the entire hot water demand, but greywater is turned into usable water by the complete purification. The useful water produced in this way can be used without any loss of comfort or hygienic concerns for toilet flushing and garden irrigation as well as for passive cooling in summer through thermal component activation.
