The heart of our program is creative youth development.
Founded in August 2016, Generation Music & Arts Academy is a California nonprofit corporation that aims to provide a high-quality, creativity-based youth development program. We offer high-quality music and arts education to our community's disadvantaged public school students as part of positive youth development. We recognize the need for equitable access to such education in the unincorporated communities of Alameda County. We strive to empower young people facing socioeconomic challenges to become creative and innovative contributors and leaders in our community.
Our programs create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment that encourages students to explore their interests and express themselves creatively while reflecting on their personal and shared experiences. We offer transformational experiences that foster self-efficacy and build social-emotional learning competencies that will impact their academics, life, and future career. We serve over 500 families and students from K-12 public schools in the San Lorenzo, Hayward, San Leandro, and New Haven unified school districts.
