GeoEnergy NI will explore the potential for #geothermal energy in two Northern Ireland locations – the Stormont Estate in Belfast and the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise Greenmount Campus near Antrim.
By unearthing the heat beneath our feet, GeoEnergy NI will help pave the way for a more sustainable energy future – a future powered by the planet itself.
The Department for Economy (DfE) is delivering this project with scientific support from the Geological Survey of Northern Ireland (GSNI).
GeoEnergy NI forms part of the Energy Strategy Action Plan (2022), whereby DfE committed to develop and commence delivery of a geothermal demonstrator project, recognising the importance of having a secure, affordable and low carbon energy source now and into the future.
