The George A. Miller Scholars Program provides outstanding community college transfer students the opportunity to develop leadership and research or community service skills and put them into practice.
Each year up to 12 low-income, first-generation students are selected based on their leadership potential, academic excellence, and commitment to community service and education. Due to the small size of the cohort, students receive personal attention and guidance that helps them transition to Berkeley, succeed academically, and develop skills to bring their interests and career goals together.
The scholars receive an $8,000 stipend over two years, including $2,600 in the summer. Once selected they pick between two tracks: academic research or community service.
