We are a new branch of an already established gaming orientated charity from the UK who collect old and unused games and consoles and redistribute them to children's wards across the UK. We intended to achieve their level of success in Canada. We are based out of Toronto, ON at the moment and intend to grow out from here
It has been found that these games help children cope with fear and stress caused by hospital
environments and procedures, decrease anxiety in the lead up to and during procedures, improve
visually impaired eyesight and develop hand-eye coordination and reaction times.
A proven successful and widely used general application of video games as a distraction whilst the
patient endures painful procedures or chronic pain. Due to the games multi-sensory nature and need
of active involvement they reduce the childrens' awareness of their surroundings so significantly that
tolerance levels increase and in cases, physical pain levels to decrease.
Not only are video games beneficial in medical terms but also in encouraging social and creative
exploration. It has been found that children playing video games feel less lonely as it helps them to
socialize and make new friends, with whom they enjoy peer-based learning to overcome difficulties
by allowing them to create new worlds and identities - a chance to escape reality momentarily.
