GivingTuesday Portugal Overview

On November 28th, 2023 we will have #GivingTuesday 5th edition in Portugal, a global day dedicated to generosity. On this day, individuals, solidarity institutions, companies, media, local communities, public figures and individuals, are challenged to come together and carry out and encourage small acts of generosity, using the social media amplifying strenght. #GivingTuesday is an open, free and flexible movement and offers everyone the opportunity to let their imagination run wild, creating and / or participating in solidarity actions and spreading these acts on social networks to inspire more people to do the same. Each one is free to choose how to participate. Either through a donation in cash, in goods, in talent, in time, or a good deed. The important thing is that we all participate! This movement emerged in the United States in 2012, in the Center for Innovation and Social Impact - 92nd Street Y, in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. #GivingTuesday is always celebrated on the first Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, as an alternative to these intense days of consumption. It is currently celebrated in more than 180 countries, with a significant impact in terms of innovation and sustainability to the social sector and bringing philanthropy and doing good to a wider discussion universe. It is undoubtedly a civic movement that is bringing us closer to each other. For non-profit organizations it is more than an opportunity to receive contributions, #GivingTuesday is a way to increase their visibility and presence with the general public, show the excellent work they daily carry on and celebrate the support they receive during the year donors and partners. For companies, it is another excellent way to contribute to the community in which they operate, involving and inspiring their stakeholders to join themselves and participate in solidarity actions that they will promote for this day.
