The Global Leaders Network is the first and only Global South-led global health diplomacy initiative to support the attainment of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals related to women's, children's and adolescents' health.
We are creating a pathway towards the reduction of maternal, neonatal, and adolescent mortality rates by a third in network countries by 2030.
Achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) targets for women, children, and adolescent health calls for immediate and decisive action.
Most countries are well off track.
More than 4 out of 5 countries will not achieve their national maternal mortality target, approximately 1 out of 3 will miss the neonatal mortality target, and more than 1 out of 5 will miss the under-five mortality targets for 2030.
There is an urgent need for progress if the SDGs are to be achieved. The rate of reduction in maternal mortality must be accelerated nine-fold; there needs to be a four-fold acceleration in the reduction of newborn mortality and deaths of children aged 1-59 months; and a three-fold reduction of the number of stillbirths.
Political leadership at the highest level is urgently required to drive investment, partnerships and policies that will deliver quality and affordable healthcare for all.
The Global Leaders Network aims to elevate women’s, children’s and adolescents' health to the highest political agenda in member countries.
We will drive action to protect the most vulnerable, improve gender equality, and ensure health, well-being and broad-based social and economic progress guided by the 2030 goals.
