🤝 Cross-sector collaboration to combat child sexual abuse in Spain 🇪🇸
🏋️ September was a busy month! Today, I'd like to highlight the third RoundtableAnna M.and I organised for theInternational Centre for Missing & Exploited Children, this time in#Spain. It focused on three important aspects in the fight against CSEA: investigations, prevention and technology.
🎯 After my opening remarks and the words from Jon Piechowski representing theU.S. Embassy Madrid, we heard from Sergi Ibañez Castella, Inspector at the Cybercrimes Central Unit of the Policia Nacional on the investigative process in child abuse crimes and the importance of citizen reporting and whistleblowing. Then, we had two great presentations fromUCMcolleagues. Assistant Professor of Criminal Law and CriminologyMaría Pilar Marco Franciatalked about her research on preventing sexual assaults on minors thanks to scientific knowledge about the offender. Lastly,Ana L. Sandoval Orozco, Researcher and Software Engineer, focused on how to use technology to better protect children online, and presented the technology developed in theHEROES FCT Research ProjectandALUNA ISF.
