The Gloucester Fire Department was established to provide fire suppression and emergency response capabilities with adequate manning, apparatus, equipment, and trained personnel, deployed on a 24hour a day basis. To provide prehospital emergency medical care, stabilization, and transportation for ill or injured persons, on a 24hour a day basis, by two adequately manned and equipped ambulances and response by the closest available first responder units for immediate intervention and proper patient handling capabilities. To provide initial response capabilities, assure public safety and perform remedial actions at hazardous materials and/or waste incidents.
