Green Growth Nepal (GGN) is a programme funded by the UK Foregin, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and implemented by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
It supports the Government of Nepal(GoN) in advancing a green, inclusive, and resilient economy, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future. GGN programme collaborates with Madesh, Lumbini and Karnali Provinces to identify green growth opportunities, develop investment strategies, and improve coordination among federal, provincial and local governments. GGN aims to catalyse green projects and investments across the project lifecycle, focusing on three interconnected components:
Component 1: National Green Growth
This component focuses on enhancing Nepal’s sustainable economic policies to strengthen the effectiveness of the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) in facilitating Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) for green growth.
Component 2: Green Growth for Cities
This component aims to empower federal, pronvincial and local governments to develop and implement climate-smart urban infrastructure projects effectively.
Component 3: Financial Sector Deepening
This component addresses Nepal’s green financing challenges by mobilising investment, derisking credit, greening banking, and strengthening capital markets through policy, technical support, and financial instruments.
