We created Carbon Planner, a web-based carbon forecasting and mitigating software, to fight climate change by giving the development community and public agencies a quick, easy visual way to see carbon impacts and reduce them. The company is headed by Patric Dawe, an architect and urban planner with extensive experience in sustainable city planning, transportation-related development, urban revitalization and urban infill.
Carbon Planner brings the benefits of speedy up-front analysis and mitigation of carbon emissions, unlike the usual late in the game calculation after the project is too far along to be changed. Business as Usual emissions are shown for the CEQA categories, and a Mitigation Menu contains several dozen mitigation techniques that can reduce carbon emissions. A benchmark of significance highlights the target for reducing carbon emissions.
A new feature of Carbon Planner is the Water Management tool. It calculates water use reduction from mitigation techniques, and highlights the percentage reduction in water use, to enable cities to meet state-mandated goals.
