Grellas Shah is a founder-focused law firm, dedicated to providing legal services to emerging ventures and other early stage and middle-market businesses, as well as founders, entrepreneurs, executives, directors, officers, key employees, and others associated with such business clients. We differ from large Silicon Valley firms that see it as a plus to represent venture-capital firms while we do not. Founders who seek a slot in a venture-formula company, a fee deferral and an early exit on IPO can find excellent lawyers at large firms to assist them. Founders who are wary of possible conflicts with an early VC-lock, or who aim to build long-term value and profitability with or without an IPO will find us to be an excellent alternative. We both represent client companies, but Grellas works exclusively with those who come in from the founder side; the large firms do not. Our business law practice focuses on critical life-cycle events: formation, hiring, incentives, funding, acquiring and positioning to get acquired. Our core areas are key items not tied to life-cycle: corporate, commercial, executives, disputes, and tax. Our high tech practice is central to our work. We help with trade secret, trademark, copyright, and other IP protection, licensing, development, distribution, and strategic partnering. We serve start-ups in a broad range of key technologies in which we have substantial experience and expertise. We handle commercial litigation across the range of issues that affect startup business clients and small business clients: business, corporate, contract, intellectual property, trade secret, employment, partnership, business dissolution, and other business disputes and lawsuits.
