Gruppo Sismica s.r.l., founded in 2009, produces advanced software for simulating the non-linear seismic response of new and existing buildings. The top product of the company is 3DMacro, a software based on a calculation model, originally proposed by the University of Catania in 2004 with the participation of Gruppo Sismica. The validity of this model has been recognized by the scientific community, through the publication of a prestigious international journal of earthquake engineering. Currently 3DMacro represents a powerful tool of the seismic vulnerability of unreinforced and confined masonry structures and infilled reinforced concrete buildings.
Since 2014, introducing Histra (HIstorical STRucturalAnalysis), Gruppo Sismica has proposed an innovative software for modeling monumental buildings by an innovative theoretical model, with particular reference to structures with curved geometry as arches, vaults and domes (Histra Arches and Vaults) and to verification and analysis of masonry bridges (Histra Bridges). The reliability of the model, demonstrated by numerous scientific publications, and supported by ample confirmation in the scientific and academic world, is then placed at the service of the application professional.
The growing activity of Gruppo Sismica in the field of seismic modeling of buildings allowed the involvement of an increasing number of collaborators to the initial project. The team is composed of structural engineers, PhD’s in Structural Engineering, informatics developer and scientific advisors, directly related to the academic world. The experience and expertise of the team can enrich the theoretical knowledge and the potential of computational tools available on the market. Gruppo Sismica also offers consulting structural, for example, modeling and evaluation of the structural safety of existing buildings, and design of new structures and improvement interventions or retrofitting of existing buildings.
