Heliopolis SC was founded in Cairo on January 1, 1910, by the Cairo Electric Railways and Heliopolis Oasis Company, which managed the club until December 31, 1921. On January 1, 1922, the club members took over the management by a contract signed with the company.
Heliopolis Sporting Club (HSC) currently has over 42,000 families memberships in the main branch and has predominance in certain sports and is active in 20+ sports including basketball, handball, football, volleyball, water polo, swimming, diving, squash, tennis, speed ball, water ballet and gymnastics.
