We're the Hidden Disabilities charity and we are brand new!
We aim to generate a greater understanding and awareness for those with hidden disabilities, as not all disabilities are visible and are often misunderstood.
We wish to raise the profiles on less well known conditions too.
Many chronic illnesses share similar conditions and challenges. We aim to gather people together to share events, classes, workshops and socials. HiD are currently creating an events calendar in Hull and East Yorkshire for adults to start January 2024. We will share this at the launch!
HiD want to reduce isolation and develop a welcoming, inclusive community with accessible safe places and a whole host of actives. There will be fun socials, wellness and inspirational events plus personal development workshops and expert advice training opportunities too.
Initially our primary focus is for those adults with 'physical' hidden disabilities, but many events will also be inclusive to all disabilities. You do not have to be registered disabled to join us. Some events will be small and have restricted numbers and others available for family and friends too. It will be a grand mixture and the aim is to include everyone who would like to be involved.
We wish to be a friendly supportive hub of information and will collate and share information on our website to help sign post to other local charities and services also offering their support and expertise.
We are creating a panel of end users with different conditions who will meet to discuss and share ideas. These will be feed back to the trustees and provide invaluable suggestions and deeper understanding on what is needed to help the end user.
We will grow organically depending on what interest and support we receive. We hope you will join us and share the journey of inclusivity, diversity, equity and kindness.
