Himalayan Yeti Foundation (HYF) is a section-8 company, registered under 12A and 80G. Our vision is to promote circularity and reverse migration in India
HYF is among a few foundations in the country that is run by people from corporate and business. Our idea is to create sustainable and scalable project(s) for the funders that can have a meaningful impact in changing beneficiaries' lives rather than trying our hand upon philanthropy and distributing food packets, medicines etc.
HYF primarily works in Education and Skill Development, Environmental Sustainability, Rural Development, and Sustainable Livelihoods.
Few of our designed project(s) on One District One Product (ODOP) scheme under Sustainable Livelihoods and Plastic Collection & Recycling System impacting lives of Ragpickers, for the next financial year i.e., 2023 - 24 has been already approved by the donors which we will be starting from April 2023 onwards
Under the four broad pillars, we would like to focus upon interventions mentioned below but not restricted to:
1. Education & Skill Development: By building smart/digital and eco-friendly classes/content for last mile beneficiaries, inculcating futuristic skills in students mostly in identifying complex-climate related problems and solving them, for instance, sustainable fashion, mobility, commodities, circularity, etc.
2. Environmental Sustainability: By working upon issues of waste management - collection, recycling, etc., swachh survekshan, carbon and water footprints reduction, renewable energy program(s), etc.
3. Rural Development: By focusing upon both product as well as service based economic upliftment of individuals as well as communities, for instance, working with artisans on a certain product, or adopting a village and generating income opportunities, development, etc.
4. Sustainable Livelihoods: By building programs that can scale government schemes such as ODOP, GI and SFURTI. Under this program, we have identified certain products/categories that require immediate attention and have a potential to become big, for instance, Jaggery from Muzaffarnagar and Ayodhya; Kala Namak Rice from Gorakhpur; Chilli from Varanasi, Guava from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh and so on. Similarly, in Uttarakhand, apricot-based-products, tejpatta and spices, etc. This extends to 775+ districts of India across 30+ States/UTs.
Thus, having a long-term scalable and sustainable capacity.
