HIPOBAT is a French-German research programme towards high-power batteries, which will enable fast charging and a long lifetime, and at the same time guarantee sufficient energy density. This programme, organized in one coordinated project with extensive bilateral personal exchanges, will include lithium and sodium chemistries owing to the fact that new positive and negative materials can provide different properties. A strong focus will be put on solid-state batteries (SSB). Lithium and Sodium ion batteries with liquid electrolyte (LIB, SIB) will be considered as benchmark compared to the other cell concepts (solid-state lithium and sodium).
