The Hodler Prize will be awarded to a text that best expresses the metamorphoses of our societies, across all disciplines of the written word: novel, essay, screenplay, poem, press article, opinion, social science, art criticism, song, speech, tweet... By abolishing traditional literary hierarchies, the Hodler Prize aims to highlight each author's search for truth, whether available in bookshops, on screen or on stage. Whether their texts are read, seen or heard. In this competition of truths, the only thing that matters is the accuracy of the words. A book, a series or a tweet can change our vision of the world with the same acuity. The Hodler Prize also renews the principle of the jury by valuing the critical contribution of its members. Comprising 9 eminent figures from the world of writing (novels, journalism, screenplays, criticism, essays and philosophy), the jury is also the reading committee. It proposes and votes. It has full powers. Full powers, which the public is invited to share by becoming the 10th member of the Hodler Prize jury. The prize money for the Hodler Prize is 1 Bitcoin, divided equally between the winner and the jury (i.e. 0.1 Bitcoin per person). The 0.1 Bitcoin awarded to the public will be allocated by drawing lots. The Hodler Prize embraces the societal transformations driven by Bitcoin: individual sovereignty, inclusivity, decentralization and resistance to time. A new social, political and technical common space, surprisingly rejected by the cultural world, probably wary of the mere adjective "speculative", generally attached to Bitcoin in the media. An adjective that the Hodler Prize claims absolutely: a literary prize is always a speculation on the future. It rewards the quality of a text and bets on its ability to travel through time. Speculating is the Prize's self-assigned mission: to think and believe in the future.
