The mission of Homeless Not Toothless is to raise the pride and dignity of the homeless and underserved through quality dental services. Approximately 88,000 individuals are homeless in Los Angeles County on any given night and while we have not conducted a formal needs assessment we believe it safe to say that most of these people have unmet dental needs. Clinics can help them with cavities and basic needs, but they often need more sophisticated procedures. Our focus is on fixing the unsightly or missing teeth that hinder their ability to find the jobs that will get them off the streets, and on ridding them of the chronic dental pain that saps their strength and ability to seek that employment.
We require at least 90 days sobriety and actively seeking employment to qualify.
As of 2009, we have provided over $2-Million in pro bono services.
