Horseback Miracles (HBM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the impact of mental injury, illness and neurological disorders of a diverse client base and improving their abilities to make positive value-based life choices and decisions. HBM is a unique Equine Assisted therapy program which uses horses combined with specific mental and physical exercises to help participants envision a positive future for themselves, overcome challenges and dysfunction by connecting to themselves and others in a positive manner. The HBM goal is accomplished through the process of accessing areas of their brain that may have been previously shut off or unavailable to the participant due to chronic stress and a fight or flight response remaining constantly activated. The specific and sequential movements and drills help to move participants to a calmer lower amplitude brain wave pattern, promote brain chemical balancing, allowing healing and neural pathways to open. Participants belief systems, empathy, gratitude and social behaviors have been demonstrated to improve greatly with this program.
